Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CSC) Chairman Abdulrahman Al Zamil recently met with Alioune Sar, who serves as Senegal’s commerce
minister, to consider economic relations between the two nations.

Sar said that Senegal’s newly-approved social and
economic development plan encompasses potential private sector growth in Saudi Arabia and Senegal. The initiative is intended to elevate Senegal’s stature
among emerging economies by 2035 and supports infrastructure improvements
that would attract international investors.

Senegal’s strengths lie in agriculture, poultry and
fisheries and manufacturing as well as tourism and transport. Sar said poultry in particular can be inexpensively exported to Saudi Arabia. He also commended the Saudi Vision 2030, stressing
that it opens doors for greater alliances among Islamic countries, where there
is plenty of room to grow.

Al Zamil said there is a strong commitment to reinforcing mutual
relations and facilitating lines of communication. He suggested that the two
countries plan to meet regularly, keep pace with Saudi-Senegalese Joint
Committee actions and educate Senegalese students in the trade sector with
internships.

Omar Bahlaiwa, acting secretary general for CSC, responded
positively to Sar’s invitation for participation in two upcoming events: 2016’s
International Fair of Dakar and the International Fair for Constructions
in 2017.
