Hoping international associations will “set up shop” in the
emirate, the Dubai Association Centre (DAC) recently attended the Great Ideas
Conference organized in Hong Kong by the Washington,
D.C.-based American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
Spokespersons for DAC informed Asian and American groups of
their services and the benefits of doing business in strategically situated
Dubai.
The Dubai Chamber’s vice president for international relations, Hassan Al
Hashemi — who also serves on DAC’s executive committee — announced that ASAE already
plans to send a delegation to the emirate in October, while Steen Jakobsen of the
Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, who oversees business events
in the emirate, underscored the logistical advantages for global firms basing their
Middle East outlets in Dubai.
“Our participation in the ASAE Great Ideas Conference
reconfirmed the strong interest in Dubai from associations located in Asia and
North America,” Jakobsen said. “Dubai is a growing hub for knowledge and
education, and attracting international associations to set up shop in the
emirate will help reinforce this position further.”
From a Dubai location, international firms from both Asia
and the Americas would be able to operate outposts with infrastructure supports
including state-of-the-art technology, air service and top-notch office
accommodations — particularly in ease of access to the Dubai World Trade Centre
amenities of Sheikh Rashid Tower and the World Trade Club.
