UAE-based telecommunications service provider du’s subsidiary, datamena, revealed its association with Epsilon Telecommunications to further extend Epsilon’s cross-border connectivity capabilities to their international clients.

This deployment enables Epsilon customers to directly connect with CloudLX, a newly launched on-demand Ethernet connectivity portal.

“Our datamena facility enables customers from around the globe to expand their global footprint,” Abou Moustafa, vice president of enterprise managed services and datamena at du, told Gulf News Journal. “By deploying its infrastructure in datamena, Epsilon will add a point of presence to its global network connecting Europe, Asia and the USA, allowing it to bring its services closer to its clients in the Middle East.”

Epsilon, one of the largest independent providers of connectivity solutions to the world’s communications and cloud ecosystems, will use its PoP (Point of Presence) in datamena to gain greater access to regional markets while supporting the growth of cloud services in the Middle East.

Abou said that there is also a growing demand for virtualized on-demand network and connectivity solutions. Epsilon’s new deployment of cutting edge technology brings this capability to datamena, facilitating and meeting the next wave of international connectivity requirements.

Launched in 2012 by du, datamena is the most prominent carrier-neutral data center, connectivity interchange and services platform in the UAE. The company provides data center services in alliance with Equinix, a leading global provider of data center services. The ecosystem in datamena consists of more than 100 carriers, content providers, cloud providers and enterprises. datamena offers interconnection with an ecosystem of carriers, as well as access to low-latency connectivity into high-growth markets across the region.

“The main initiative of datamena is to allow telecommunication sector to grow their business in the Middle East,” Abou said. “datamena solves these challenges by providing a communications hub where our customers can meet, interconnect and do business together. datamena has crossed the milestone of 100+ customers. By joining our ecosystem, our customers will get the opportunity to connect with 40+ peers and reach up to 50G of traffic.”

Epsilon can interconnect with more than 70 active potential partners in the facility. It also has access to the UAE Internet Exchange (UAE-IX), the largest public peering exchange in the Middle East, with more than 30 active members. This helps it to bring content closer to end users and enables superior quality of service and experience for high performance applications and cloud services.

“As Epsilon continues to innovate and help customers to seamlessly deliver mission-critical solutions and high-performance applications, their presence in the UAE is critical for growth in the region,” Abou said.
