The city of Dubai is into setting world records, and now teams there are hard at work on creating the largest theme park in the
world.
IMG Worlds of Adventure, set to open Aug. 15, will be the biggest indoor theme park of its kind, with major components that will
include Cartoon Network- and Marvel-themed areas as well as the Lost Valley
Dinosaur Adventure. By fall, visitors from around the world will be enjoying a
major attraction that will rival Disney and other traditional fun spots worldwide.
The multibillion-dollar theme park will have 25 retail
stores and 20 signature rides and attractions as well as a 5-D theater experience. Over 1,600 employees will staff the park, and approximately 4,500 parking spaces will be available. Planners are expecting 30,000
visitors per day, with a ticket price of $81.67 (300 AED) for adults and $68.06 (250 AED) for
children.
In addition, international imaging solutions firm DigiPhoto
Entertainment Imaging (DEI) has won an exclusive three-year contract to provide
digital photography services for the park. A June 28 press release said DEI is partnering with IMG Worlds
of Adventure for services such as ride photography, souvenir pictures and new technologies like augmented reality 3-D images.
DEI will also operate interactive green-screen videography and use creative backdrops to frame guests in digitally enhanced photos.
“We are delighted to be awarded the souvenir imaging
provider contract with IMG Worlds of Adventure for the world’s largest indoor
theme park, and this is another concrete testament of our position as the global
market leader for providing end-to-end infrastructure imaging solutions and
commendable customer service.” DEI CEO K.S. Ramakrishnan said in a press
statement.
IMG CEO Lennard Otto said IMG Worlds of
Adventure is looking to redefine the theme park experience and is proud
to partner with DEI to provide a fully immersive day at IMG Worlds of Adventure that will include innovative videography and photography.
In an interview with the Gulf News Journal on Friday, a DEI representative explained what DEI does for the theme park and entertainment facility experience and what the firm’s contract with
IMG Worlds of
Adventure means for the Dubai facility.
DEI, which operates in thousands of locations around the world, focuses on the core aspects of digital
photography involving souvenir pictures and other types of photos, the representative said.
“We pretty much do photography in theme parks and water
parks – it’s all centered around photos,” the company representative said.
One service DEI provides involves giving a guest a QR card
with a bar code, where pictures taken during the day get aggregated for
delivery to one common destination, the representative said.
“Every single photo that you take all day will be
downloaded.” the representative said.
Other representatives of DEI declined to provide details on
growth strategy or other information about the firm.
Representatives of IMG Theme Park LLC did not respond to emails.
