Dewa celebrates union pledge day with events promoting national identity

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) marked Union Pledge Day on July 18 with events aimed at enhancing national identity and reinforcing values of loyalty and belonging. This day commemorates the signing of the Declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution in 1971.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, extended congratulations to UAE leaders, stating: “I am honoured to extend my congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates on Union Pledge Day. This precious national milestone reminds us of our shared identity and the unity that binds us as one nation. Fulfilling the Union’s pledge is not limited to commemoration but also means building on this foundation and harnessing all capabilities to help shape a brighter, more prosperous future. On this glorious day, we pledge to the nation and its wise leadership to continue working with determination and sincerity to uphold the values and principles that have guided the Union’s journey and to reinforce the UAE’s global leadership across all fields.”

DEWA organized various initiatives including workshops titled ‘Ahd Yatajaddad’ (A Pledge Renewed), presented by Taha Al Hamri, Chief Happiness Officer. The workshops highlighted historical context and patriotic significance. Electronic bulletins were sent out for employee awareness about Union Pledge Day’s importance. A documentary video was shared showcasing UAE’s Union history along with DEWA’s role in supporting national initiatives.

Internal competitions for employees were launched alongside public ones via social media platforms. To support Emirati entrepreneurs, DEWA held a community exhibition allowing Emirati employees with small businesses to showcase their products.

DEWA employees expressed pride in participating in this celebration, reaffirming their commitment to supporting development while upholding founding principles and contributing to progress across sectors.
