HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently met with HE Sybille Pfaff, Consul General of Germany in Dubai. The meeting was attended by a high-level German delegation comprising representatives from international companies and academic institutions specializing in renewable energy and green hydrogen. This visit is part of the Energy Export Initiative launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
Al Tayer welcomed the collaboration with Germany, emphasizing its role in reinforcing the UAE’s status as a global hub for clean energy technologies. He reiterated DEWA’s commitment to adopting future technologies and discussed opportunities to strengthen strategic partnerships, particularly in green hydrogen production and storage. The discussions also covered best practices and technical expertise exchanges, including field visits to facilities like the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
The German delegation included representatives from major companies such as FEV Group, MAN Energy Solutions, Hexagon Purus, and MoveTech. Members of the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce were also present.
During the meeting, Al Tayer presented DEWA’s initiatives that align with Dubai’s vision to enhance sustainability and transition to a green economy. These efforts are part of strategies like the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, aiming for 100% clean energy production capacity by 2050.
He highlighted projects at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which aims for a production capacity of 7,260MW by 2030. Currently, its capacity is at 3,760MW, contributing 21% to Dubai’s energy mix. Future phases include Phase 6 scheduled for completion in 2026 with a capacity of 1,800MW using advanced solar PV technologies. Phase 7 is expected to start in 2027 with a capacity of 1,600MW alongside a significant battery storage system.
