Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is actively participating in the Arab Media Summit 2025 as the Strategic Sustainability Partner. The summit, organized by the Dubai Press Club, is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and directed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The event, which started on May 26 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, gathers media professionals and leaders from across the globe to discuss sustainability and innovation.

During the summit, DEWA showcased its projects focused on sustainability and renewable energy. On the second day, a panel discussion titled ‘Using Future Technologies to Enhance Sustainability’ featured DEWA employees including Dr. Ali Alsuwaidi, Chief Innovation Officer; Ghanim Alqassim, Senior Manager – Solar Energy; and Khalid Binkalban, Manager of Digital Products Management.

Dr. Alsuwaidi emphasized innovation’s crucial role in DEWA’s operations, highlighting that DEWA was the first utility worldwide to integrate ChatGPT technology for internal processes. He also mentioned services like smart meters that help monitor water usage and detect leaks early.

Ghanim Alqassim discussed advancements in solar energy efficiency at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park using technologies such as solar-tracking systems and robotic cleaning. He stated that by 2030, solar park capacity will reach 7,260MW, contributing significantly to reducing carbon emissions.

Khalid Binkalban spoke about DEWA’s investments in artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency and customer experience through smart systems for leak detection and interactive consumption dashboards.

DEWA’s exhibit at the summit includes a model of its new headquarters, Al-Shera’a building in Al Jaddaf. This building aims to be the tallest net-positive energy government structure globally with certifications in LEED and WELL Building Standard.
