HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently met with a delegation from IBM led by Ana Paula De Jesus Assis, Senior Vice President and Chair of IBM EMEA. The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance collaboration in digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity to support Dubai’s ambition of developing a strong digital economy rooted in knowledge and innovation.
Other attendees included Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA; Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA; Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub—a subsidiary of Digital DEWA—and Moza Alshamsi, Chief Information Security Officer at DEWA.
Al Tayer stated that working with IBM is part of DEWA’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships with leading global technology firms and adopt advanced cybersecurity and AI solutions. He said this aligns with the goals set out in the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’ to position Dubai among the world’s top digital economies and realize leadership’s vision for a sustainable future built on innovation.
Al Tayer also pointed out that DEWA aims to become the world’s first AI-native utility by integrating AI technologies into all core operations.
The meeting reviewed existing cooperation between Moro Hub and IBM. Moro uses IBM’s QRadar system to bolster the security of its digital services within its Cybersecurity Operations Centre. As an IBM-certified Managed Services Partner, Moro provides Security Operations Centre as a Service solutions, helping customers respond quickly to cyber threats while maintaining ongoing preventive monitoring. Both sides are discussing expanding their partnership to include AI applications through the IBM Watson platform, aiming to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and smart transformation across key sectors.
