Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining the ISO/IEC 17020:2012 certification. This makes DEWA the first organization in the UAE to receive accreditation for inspecting power distribution network assets, adhering to high standards of efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and reliability.

The accreditation recognizes DEWA’s efforts to enhance network performance and ensure stable energy distribution. Routine inspections are crucial for boosting network reliability, reducing malfunctions, and ensuring equipment and employee safety. These measures also improve operational efficiency and sustainability through early problem detection and preventive action.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, commended the technical teams’ commitment to quality and excellence. He highlighted their dedication to developing inspection processes that ensure world-class services and enhance stakeholder confidence in DEWA’s role in transforming the energy sector.

“In line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, we are committed to maintaining our leading global position,” said Al Tayer. “In 2024, DEWA achieved the lowest electricity customer minutes lost (CML) in the world, with Dubai recording just 0.94 minutes per customer.” He emphasized adopting innovation and disruptive technologies to meet growing energy demands while maintaining high standards of availability, sustainability, and reliability.
