The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently hosted a high-level delegation from Brazil at its Sustainability and Innovation Centre. The delegation, led by governors and vice-governors from Brazil’s northeastern states, explored advancements in clean and renewable energy, as well as key green initiatives in Dubai. They were also briefed on DEWA’s prominent projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
The Sustainability and Innovation Centre serves as a global platform for fostering partnerships between government entities and private sectors. It focuses on sustainability, clean energy, and exploring investment opportunities in new technologies to accelerate the energy transition towards net zero emissions. This aligns with the UAE’s strategies for sustainable development.
Dr Aaesha Alnuaimi, Director of DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre, highlighted DEWA’s major projects to the visitors. These include the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park—the largest single-site solar park globally—and the Green Hydrogen Project, which is pioneering hydrogen production using solar energy in the Middle East and North Africa. Additionally, she discussed the EV Green Charger initiative that introduced public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the region.
The Brazilian delegation commended DEWA’s leadership in sustainability. They noted that its projects exemplify how innovation and advanced technology can drive a shift towards a sustainable future.
