Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced the launch of two new AI-based tools aimed at enhancing support for engineering and technical staff. The introduction of these tools is part of DEWA’s strategic plan to become the first AI-native utility in the world.

The newly launched tools are the Material Insights Agent, which serves as a virtual photovoltaic expert, and the BRD Generator, a tool that uses generative AI to create Business Requirements Documents. These innovations are expected to accelerate project planning and implementation.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stated, “To achieve the vision and directives of our wise leadership for AI to be the cornerstone of future initiatives and services in Dubai, we leverage the latest technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, most notably artificial intelligence, to enhance performance and productivity.” He added that these smart tools would support DEWA’s efforts by integrating AI across all operations.

The Material Insights Agent offers real-time analyses for engineers working on solar energy projects. This tool uses advanced data and simulation models to assist technical teams in making precise design decisions more efficiently.

Meanwhile, the BRD Generator aims to streamline documentation processes by using generative AI. It helps teams draft integrated documents that outline project objectives along with functional and non-functional requirements. This tool is designed to improve clarity in project planning and execution.

These developments highlight DEWA’s commitment to leveraging technology in enhancing its operations in energy, water, and smart services sectors.
