Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has outlined the process for obtaining electricity and water no-objection certificates (NOCs) for building permits. The initiative is part of DEWA’s efforts to streamline government procedures and accelerate service delivery.
For projects requiring a Dubai Municipality building permit, contractors and consultants can obtain an NOC through the Dubai Building Permit System. This system issues construction-related electrical and water supply NOCs within a package of approvals that includes design approval and delivery cost. Applications are processed within three working days.
For projects within free zones or under other licensing entities such as Trakhees, Dubai Development Authority, or Dubai Integrated Economic Zones, the NOC process is available on DEWA’s website. Construction electrical supply NOCs are processed in two working days, while construction water supply NOCs take three working days after submission.
Applicants must follow these steps to obtain an NOC:
1. Apply online with required documents.
2. Receive a confirmation notification with an application reference number.
3. If rejected, submit a new application with valid information.
4. If returned with comments, resubmit with correct information.
5. Upon approval, download the NOC via a link provided in the notification.
More details about the process are available on DEWA’s website.
