Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has renewed its ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System certification for the third year in a row. The certificate was presented by Bureau Veritas at DEWA’s head office, attended by senior officials including Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO; Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence; Dr Ali Mohammed Almuwaijei, Vice President of Governance and Compliance; Ahmad Juma AlSuwaidi, Senior Manager of Enterprise Compliance; and members of the Governance and Compliance team.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer stated, “We maintain a robust ethics and compliance management system, supported by DEWA’s Code of Ethics and comprehensive policies and procedures, including anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-fraud measures, anti-money laundering controls and whistleblowing mechanisms. We remain committed to strengthening our global leadership in corporate governance and internal audit by fostering a culture of excellence and accountability across all our processes, practices and operations, and by leveraging advanced analytics and artificial intelligence technologies to enhance the efficiency of audit processes.”

Waleed bin Salman added: “We are committed to conducting our business and operations in a fair, transparent and ethical manner, in line with UAE federal laws and the legislation of the emirate of Dubai, as well as Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State owned Enterprises, World Bank guidelines, British Standards Institution specifications and other global standards. This commitment reflects an established organisational approach that strengthens trust and supports a work environment based on credibility and responsibility.”

The organization states that it uses international standards like ISO 37001:2016 to reinforce its compliance efforts. DEWA reports having proactive risk management strategies, strong internal audits, secure channels for reporting violations such as whistleblowing mechanisms, as well as ongoing employee training aimed at supporting transparency.

In addition to renewing this certification for anti-bribery systems this year, DEWA received the 3G Championship Award for Digital Transformation 2025 at the Global Good Governance Awards organized by Cambridge IFA. It also renewed its BS 13500 certification for Effective Governance Management Systems for nine consecutive years after review by BSI. Furthermore, DEWA’s Internal Audit Department earned a ‘Generally Conforms’ rating from the UAE chapter of the Internal Auditors Association (IAA), which is considered the highest rating under international internal auditing standards.
