Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has sponsored an initiative by the Al Noor Rehabilitation & Welfare Association for People of Determination. This initiative aims to provide Eye Gaze devices to students who are People of Determination, facilitating communication for those with physical and hearing impairments. DEWA’s sponsorship underscores its commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity.
“We are committed to facilitating access to information for People of Determination and utilising the latest global technologies and practices to facilitate their communication with the surrounding physical environment, allowing them to express their ideas and opinions and ensuring they have access to opportunities and expertise on an equal basis with others,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. He further emphasized DEWA’s dedication to supporting educational institutions that offer inclusive environments, stating, “In the ‘Year of Community’ and in line with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, we intensify our efforts to qualify People of Determination to live independently and enhance their quality of life, thereby ensuring their active participation in the development and prosperity journey.”
Al Tayer highlighted that between 2015 and 2024, DEWA implemented 107 programmes aimed at including and empowering People of Determination within society. Twelve initiatives were launched in 2024 alone.
Khalid Al Halyan, Chairman of Al Noor Rehabilitation & Welfare Association for People of Determination, expressed a similar commitment: “We remain steadfast in our commitment to empowering our students by providing them with the latest assistive technologies designed for People of Determination.” He noted that through collaboration with DEWA, state-of-the-art eye-gaze technology was introduced as an advanced communication tool. “Our students have used this technology to create unique designs featured across a variety of products,” Al Halyan added. He acknowledged DEWA as a visionary partner supportive of world-class training and rehabilitation programs aligning with UAE’s leadership vision.
