Dubai Electricity and Water
Authority (DEWA) recently won two CFI.co 2016 awards: Saeed Al
Tayer, CEO of DEWA, won for Outstanding Contribution to Local Employment, and the company won for Best In-house Corporate Finance Team.

Al Tayer’s role in DEWA
achieving objectives put forth by the UAE National Agenda helped him win the
award. He also led DEWA during a time in which it helped grow UAE national
capabilities and cooperated with UAE Vision 2021, which focuses on transforming
Dubai into a city full of empowered, creative and happy citizens and
internationals.

DEWA’s finance award came
for its efforts to develop financial governance and stability. The company has
more than 10,000 employees that help provide services to more than 760,000
consumers, so effective finances are an important cog in the organization’s
machine.

These awards recognize DEWA
for its achievements as it helps Dubai grow and reduce costs and water losses.
Water network losses were reduced to 8.2 percent in the past year, while the
number of power outages per customer was the best in the world.
