The Qatar Today Business Awards have bestowed Doha Bank CEO R. Seetharaman the title of Business Man of the Year for his strong management principles and dynamic leadership in guiding Doha Bank with strong values and firm principles.

Seetharaman holds a Ph.D. in Global Governance from European University and has held the post as Doha Bank CEO since 2002. Seetharaman’s leadership has transformed the bank’s operations and won Seetharaman praise as one of the most respected business figures in the Middle East.

One of his keys to success is a vision that puts business into its place in a broader social context.

Seetharaman said successful businesses and financial institutions are in need of a “realignment of the business model in accordance with structural changes in environment, building corporate image, sustaining business growth, grooming people for environment, leveraging on technology, practicing corporate social responsibility and managing stakeholder’s expectations.”

That philosophy has shown impressive results for Doha Bank, one of Qatar’s biggest financial service companies. The company has seen steady growth under Seetharaman’s guidance and continues investing in the future– especially in the growing technology innovation sector.

“Today organizations have a role in contributing to the society,” Seetharaman said. ”Hence, they should practice corporate social responsibility and encourage sustainable development.”
