Doha College recently recognized Year 9 students who received a Level 8 grade, the highest level grade possible by
any international student, at Key Stage 3 tests in science, math and English.

“This is an astonishing achievement,” David Kane, head
of Year 9, said. “These students represent the top 5 percent of our Key Stage 3
students, having achieved a Level 8 in all three subjects, and we are immensely
proud of their achievements. Level 8 is the highest possible grade achievable
at Key Stage 3 and would be the equivalent of passing a GCSE exam two years
early.”

Tiago Huber, a Year 9 student, was somewhat surprised at the outcome.

“I was very surprised by the results as I thought I hadn’t
achieved as well as I hoped in mathematics,” Huber said. “I revised by
completing lots of past papers and making sure I understood what I had been
taught.”

Huber has attended Doha College for three years but is
originally from Brazil. When he’s not in the classroom, Huber can be found
swimming.

Charlotte Smith, a native of Scotland, has also attended
Doha College for three years, said she was happy to get the certificate.

“I
didn’t realize how well I had done in these tests,” Smith said. “My favorite subjects are PE
and science and I really enjoy swimming. My top tip to other students would be
to not stress, trying your best is the most important part.”
