Prime minister of the Dominican Republic, Roosevelt Skerrit, recently offered his praise to the support granted by people in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who are gaining citizenship through investments.

Skerrit visited Dubai and Sharjah this week and spoke about how this support has allowed the country to enhance economic development. Individuals are able to obtain Dominican citizenship through its Citizenship by Investment Program.

“I am always very pleased and encouraged when Dr. Aly El Dakroury reports to me on the enormous desire of our citizens living in Dubai to invest in and play a greater role in the social and economic development of their country,” Skerrit said. “I wish to make clear this morning that you are 100 percent Dominican and that you have all the rights and privileges of any other Dominican, resident on Dominica or elsewhere in the Diaspora.”

This program received promotion support from Caribbean Trust Immigration Services — also known as CTrustGlobal — which is based in the UAE.

Skerrit stated that investments made through this program have helped to keep social programs in the country open, including the National Employment Program and other areas including agriculture vitalization and education.

According to a report from Caribbean Trust Immigration Services, the program follows several guidelines in order to qualify for citizenship, designed to find individuals with integrity and good moral character.
