DP World Group Chairman and CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem recently met with the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to discuss potential areas for future cooperation.

During the meeting in Belarus, Bin Sulayem suggested avenues for trade between the two countries. DP World has maintained a strong focus on enabling global economic and social progress through a portfolio of marine and inland trade services.

Lukashenko said Belarus is ready to implement joint logistics projects and highlighted its position as a transit hub for trade to markets in all directions. He welcomed the expertise and capabilities of DP World and the UAE, which could pair well with ideas for economic development in the country. Collaboration between countries could lead to new projects and new jobs.

DP World has long-standing partnerships with governments around the world, including an advisory role to the government of Kazakhstan. It is also focusing on the New Silk Route to implement effective trade routes between Asia and Europe.

“I look forward to building on the warm relationship between Belarus and Dubai, and it is essential that governments and trade partners maintain an open line of communication to ensure we are in tune with global developments and opportunities,” Bin Sulayem said. “We live in an increasingly dynamic trade environment where thinking ahead, anticipating change and innovating to meet the requirements of new and ever-evolving global supply chains is crucial.”

Trade between Dubai and Belarus totaled 80 million (AED) in 2015.
