Dubai, UAE, July 16, 2025: The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates NBD to support the growth of family businesses in Dubai. This agreement aims to enhance sustainable long-term growth and promote best practices in governance and succession planning.

The MoU outlines a framework developed by the Centre in collaboration with Emirates NBD’s Private Banking division. This framework will help family businesses preserve their wealth, legacy, and values for future generations. It includes support in areas such as governance maturity assessment and the development of family charters.

Khalid AlJarwan from Dubai Chambers stated, “Family businesses play a pivotal role in driving economic development…This collaboration between the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses and Emirates NBD reflects our shared commitment to supporting the long-term growth of family enterprises across generations.”

Emirates NBD will encourage its clients to participate in leadership programs organized by the Centre. These programs are designed to enhance knowledge in governance and business continuity. Mohammad Al Bastaki from Emirates NBD said, “As a homegrown banking institution, Emirates NBD is pleased to collaborate with the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses…our new partnership solidifies Emirates NBD’s commitment to economic growth.”

The agreement also includes organizing workshops focusing on topics like family governance and succession planning. Experts from Emirates NBD will participate in these events.

Al Bastaki noted that recent regulatory changes have enabled better preparation for succession among family businesses but emphasized that only 20% are managed by the third generation. He added that through sound governance solutions, Emirates NBD aims to empower these enterprises.

The Dubai Centre for Family Businesses was launched under Dubai Chambers in May 2023. It plays a key role in ensuring sustainability and boosting economic contribution from family businesses.
