The Dubai
Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted a series of
briefings on the sidelines of Gulfood 2017 to highlight business
opportunities that Eurasian food exporters can offer Emirati companies.

Delegates
and speakers included Ketevan Bochorishvili, Georgia’s deputy minister of economy and sustainable development; Sergey Levin, Russia’s state secretary and deputy minister of agriculture; and Igor Brylo, Belarus’ deputy minister of agriculture. Additionally, heads of various investment agencies took part
in the meetings along with senior Dubai chamber officials, Dubai municipal representatives and the Emirates’ business community.

Speakers
delivered presentations on opportunities available for food producers and
exporters in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. Atiq Juma Nasib,
Dubai chamber’s senior vice president for commercial services, delivered the
opening address for the briefings.

“Eurasia possesses enormous agribusiness potential to
contribute to the UAE’s food security,” Nasib said in his address. “The region
includes many markets that yield high quality produce, and there is plenty of
scope to expand trade with this part of the world.”
