The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted a
delegation from the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The meeting came
as part of the Dubai Chamber’s efforts to share
experiences and best practices in the implementation of ATA Carnets, as well as
its efforts to increase bilateral cooperation across the GCC chambers of
commerce.

The Kuwait Chamber delegation was led by Abdulaziz Salim, assistant director of computers and IT, and Abdul Al Mutawa,
assistant for transactions. Atiq Nasib, senior vice president for the
commercial services sector at Dubai Chamber, led the Dubai section of the
meeting.

Nasib spoke at the meeting about the 11,900 new companies
that joined the Dubai Chamber in the first nine months of 2016. The chamber’s
total membership is now 195,000, a 4.3 percent growth.

Nasib mentioned the positive
role played by Dubai Chamber in issuing Certificates of Origin, which numbered
692,000 between January and September, as well as the issuance of 125 ATA
carnets in the first half of the year. Nasib then went on to speak about
exports and trade.

“The recent establishment of the Kuwait Business Council in
Dubai and Northern Emirates is seen as a positive step to boost economic
cooperation and enhancement of trade and commerce between the business
communities of the two brotherly GCC countries while taking their bilateral trade
relations to a higher level,” he said.
