Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry issued the following announcement on March 26.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host a workshop on April 10th which will provide participants with practical information related to the UAE’s recently introduced value-added tax (VAT) law.

The upcoming workshop, entitled “The Essentials of VAT”, will be held at the Chamber’s headquarters in Deira. The event is being organised in cooperation with BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem & Associates LLP and Moore Stephens LLP.

During the workshop, legal and accounting experts will break down various legal aspects associated with VAT and explain how the law is being applied to free zone and mainland companies within the UAE. Attendees will be given the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the VAT regulatory environment and pose their questions to the experts.

The workshop is open to Dubai Chamber members, lawyers, corporate counsel, VAT consultants, tax professionals, financial managers, financial auditors, chartered accountants, general managers, business owners and investors, who can register for the event by visiting the Chamber’s website. Discounts will be provided for group registrations.

Ms. Jehad Kazim, Director of Dubai Chamber’s Legal Services Department, explained that workshop is being organised in response to strong demand and interest from local businesses that are keen to understand the ins and outs of the UAE’s new VAT system.

“The workshop is designed to help familiarise businesses and professionals with the essential and legal aspects of VAT, as well as key terms and definitions associated with the tax. We expect to see strong participation in the upcoming workshop as more companies comply with VAT procedures,” said Ms. Kazim.

Dubai Chamber regularly organises training seminars and workshops to raise awareness about key business trends and laws impacting the emirate’s private sector. These events fall in line with its strategic objectives of creating a favourable business environment and supporting business growth in the emirate.
