The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has partnered with Action
Care to donate more than 100 books to the National Charity School.
This donation
was part of the Dubai Chamber’s Give and Gain Day corporate volunteering
program, which promotes the Year of Reading.
Essa Al Zaabi, senior vice president of the Institutional Support Sector for Dubai
Chamber, believes a member of the Dubai Chamber staff delegation went
to the school for a number of hours and encourages students to read and build a
healthy habit of enjoying books as a hobby.
“This visit allowed our staff to build the confidence of
students and encourage them to read regularly as part of the Chamber’s support
to the Year of Reading,” Al Zaabi said. “We regularly encourage our employees
to give back to the community through volunteering and supporting important
social causes.”
The donation to the National Charity School is one of many
events the chamber hosts in combination with other partners to promote the Year
of Reading and show the need for businesses to give to various causes. Not only
does giving and volunteering benefit the corporations, but it also builds
confidence and skills for those involved.
“In support of the UAE Reading Year, Action Care has
initiated reading tutoring and literacy building programs for students at the
National Charity School,” Cherryn Kelly, general manager of Action Care, said. “Action
Care endeavors to empower the next generation of young readers by channeling
the power of volunteers to provide children with enriching reading experiences
that can ignite a lifelong passion for reading.”
