The Dubai Chamber of
Commerce and Industry announced this week that its DubaiStartupHub online
platform has attracted more than 200 business ideas from startups during the
first three days of the 35th Gitex Technology Week.

At the event, startups
pinned their projects onto a giant digital billboard displaying the map of
Dubai. From there, investors could express interest in the projects, seeking
new business partnerships upon the conclusion of tech week. After the week ends,
the ideas will be put on the DubaiStartupHub website. Investors can then get in
touch with an idea’s owner for further collaboration.

“In line with the Dubai government’s strategic directions on smart cities and to solidify Dubai’s
status as one of the leading technology hubs, the DubaiStartupHub consolidates
the concept of a smarter community by offering comprehensive information and
services,” Hamad Buamim, president and CEO at Dubai Chamber, said. “Most
importantly, this digital tool helps place the start-ups on the bustling
business map of Dubai.”

The hub, powered by and
built on the IBM Cloud, aligns with Dubai Chamber’s goal of supporting
entrepreneurs and innovation.
