The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently participated in Careers UAE 2017, an annual fair at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

About 17,000 Emirati jobseekers attended the event, according to a chamber press release.

The chamber participated as part of its larger strategy to empower Emirati talent and facilitate their contributions to businesses in the region. Dubai Chamber set up a pavilion at the exhibition to teach jobseekers about current vacancies within the chamber’s research, legal, corporate responsibility and international relations departments, in addition to the Dubai International Arbitration Centre. Chamber representatives also spoke about the organization’s mission, vision and values, as well as benefits that come with working for a nonprofit public institution.

“Dubai Chamber is committed to empowering and developing national talent through its strategic Emiratisation programmes and initiatives as they contribute to our organisational growth and the development of the business community in Dubai,” Essa Al Zaabi, senior vice president of institutional support sector for Dubai Chamber, said in the release.

Al Zaabi also discussed the 55 percent Emirisation rate achieved in 2016; he hopes to increase the number by five percent throughout 2017.
