Dubai Health Authority (DHA) recently approved requirements to qualify for its new Sponsoring Emiratis in the Medical Sector program.

DHA created the program last month to encourage Emiratis to enter the medical field by covering all of their education fees and ensuring that will have jobs at hospitals and clinics after graduation. Each year the program will sponsor 130 individuals pursuing higher education degrees in the fields of nursing, paramedics and medicine.

Emiratis interested in applying to the program must be healthy, have a history of good conduct and be a recent high school graduate who earned good grades. They shouldn’t be permanently or temporarily employed or have received any scholarship from another entity during the time of his or her application. Male applicants should have either completed their national service or have documents showing that their national service duties have been relieved or postponed. All applicants must also pass a personality test.

“There is a need for experienced Emirati cadres in the medical sector in Dubai to support the growing developments, this vital sector is experiencing,” DHA Board Chairman and Director General Humaid Al Qatami said. “By launching this program we hope to not only elevate this sector further, but also to support the Emiratization drive in Dubai and continue providing world class services to the people of Dubai.”
