In the last three and a half years, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) awarded contracts worth more than $6 million to Emirati entrepreneurs falling under the small and medium enterprises (SME) classification.

According to the directors, DHA’s purchasing department has prioritized incentives and support for Emirati-run SMEs with an aim to create an attractive business environment for UAE nationals to increase their presence in the business sector and enhance their role in supporting the sustainable development of the country. SMEs provided services across all fields of expertise such as medical equipment, security services, information technology, etc.

DHA has also provided various incentives such as asking these companies that sign a three-year contract with them to provide only 10 percent of the cost for the first year, toward performance guarantee, instead of three years. This allows companies to get more projects with various government entities as it reduces their expenses to a significant extent.
