During Ramadan, emergency personnel in Dubai
Health Authority’s hospitals received more than 22,000 emergency cases. The
first 20 days of the holy month documented the cases for emergency departments
in Rashid, Latifa, Hatta and Dubai Hospital, all of which function 24/7, 365
days a year.
Most emergency cases involved gynecological emergencies, heart
attack, food poisoning, strokes, asthma, complications of diabetes, bronchitis,
car accidents, burns and stomach issues. Patients were seen immediately upon
their arrival, and then in order of the severity of their case, were
processed through the triage system and then to the emergency department.
Hatta Hospital documented 1,112 cases during Ramadan. Latifa Hospital received 3,295 cased. Rashid Hospital and Dubai Hospital
each received an average of 450 cases per day.
Much appreciation was shown by Dubai Health Authority Chairman and Director General Humaid Al Qatami
to all medical staff in the numerous hospitals that served those suffering from
emergency medical situations. The nurses, doctors and other staff worked
tirelessly to save lives and better the health of all patients.
Al Qatami
noted the strong support of the medical staff and hospitals, particularly the
emergency services groups, by the authority and its goal of expanding health
care services throughout the entire region. Al Qatami highlighted the hospitals’
abilities to provide world class care while following all international
protocols.
