Officials with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) have started to promote the company’s services in China as part of a plan to emphasize commercial arbitration to address trade disputes, exchange knowledge and share experience with alternative dispute resolution.

As part of this plan, DIAC leaders recently invited Chinese companies to visit Dubai and learn the kinds of services that the company can offer. The collaboration effort between the DIAC and the UAE Consulate located in Shanghai served as an introductory step to the company’s offers.

The goal of the company is to address worldwide trade disputes, in this case between China and the UAE. Both nations can benefit from the mutual trade agreements.

Attendees included Consulate General of the UAE in Shanghai Ibrahim Almansouri, lawyers, business owners, arbitrators, academics, litigators and judges.

The DIAC delegate to China included DIAC Executive Committee Chairman

Tarek Fouad Riad; DIAC Chairman Habib Al Mulla; Erik Schafer, a partner of Cohausz & Florack in Germany; and Professor Phillip Capper, partner and head of international arbitration at White & Case LLP based in London.
