The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is looking into new business and investment opportunities in East Africa and recently participated in an East Africa and Dubai Agribusiness Roundtable discussion with multiple stakeholders from the region in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Dubai Chamber’s Ethiopian Representative Office teamed up with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to organize the event, during which both entities  discussed mutual trade and investment opportunities and business synergies that could be built up between East African countries and the emirate.

The event aimed to identify how Dubai can play a role in being a global hub for East African companies that want to reach into Asian markets. Officials from the Dubai Chamber showcased the Emirate’s attractiveness as a sound investment destination for East African businesses.

The meeting was attended by the UAE’s Ambassador to Kenya, Abdul Razak Mohammed Hadi, and East African Chamber of Commerce, East African Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture CEO Charles Kahuthu. Those dignitaries topped the list of names that boasted leading investors and entrepreneurs from East African companies.

Omar Khan, the Dubai Chamber’s director of international offices, said Dubai’s proximity makes it the perfect launch point for East African companies into Asia.

“Using the city as a modern base, East African companies can tap into opportunities across the Middle East and into Europe and Asia,” Khan said. “However, this can only be done by creating strong partnerships, and I hope that by working together we can find mutual benefits for economic growth of our two regions.”
