Dubai-based
IT solutions provider and systems integrator STME has developed a way to use Veritas (Symantec) to implement
a disk encryption solution at Manafea Holding Company based in Riyadh.
The data that Manafea deals with is highly complex and
valuable and security concerns developed over
the number of devices used by employees for access into the information.
Leaders wanted to ensure the safety of the data in the event of theft or
hardware/software failure. The company operates in a number of sectors
including leisure and tourism, real estate and trading, with the trading
practices delving into local and global financial markets.
“Manafea’s data and information was basically dispersed
because of the mobile nature of the laptops,” STME CEO Ayman al Bayaa said. “Therefore,
the solution had to take into account the different access points. In
consultations with the client, both parties agreed that a Symantec Endpoint
Encryption (Full Disk Edition) was the best option.”
Leaders decided, after receiving much feedback, that Symantec
Endpoint Encryption (Full Disk Edition) was the best way to move forward .
“This is a complete solution designed to protect all data on
the hard drive of machines running on Microsoft Windows,” Ayman said.
Administrators
of the machines are capable of encrypting the laptop’s hard drive to ensure
safe harbor and to prevent the exposure of sensitive data, especially in the event a laptop is stolen, Ayman said.
“The solution that STME implemented for us does not require
end-user training and provides a transparent encryption solution to the
end-user,” Manafea IT Director Khaled Sada said. “The Symantec
solution has really helped in building the security of our data and information.”
