The Dubai Smartpreneur Competition to inspire initiatives based on intelligent living to transform Dubai into a smart city is open to applicants through May 7.

The goal of the competition, co-sponsored by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Smart Dubai Office, is to encourage a high comfort level with technology.

The contest is designed to inspire innovative approaches to business and invites aspiring entrepreneurs to address the six-fold approach of smart economy, smart living, smart mobility, smart governance, smart environment and smart people.

Three winners will receive behind-the-scenes guidance and support prior to the public announcement of their selection. Applications will be judged on the relative value as entrants’ ideas relate to a useful product or service aligned with at least one of the six Smart Dubai dimensions.

Passion, planning and financial strategy will count significantly as a panel evaluates each participant’s application. Dubai Chamber Senior Vice President Essa Al Zaabi said the chamber hopes to encourage originality in the private sector while boosting Dubai’s growth as a global business hub.

Winners will be able to join the Tejar Dubai entrepreneurship development program for a period of one year to help implement their visions.
