The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Smart Dubai Office, announced the winners of its Dubai Smartpreneur Competition.

“The competition provided a fitting platform for innovative individuals to think out of the box and come up with fresh ideas which are also in line with the dimensions of the objectives of the Smart Dubai initiative and will go a long way in supporting the Emirate’s transformation to a global smart city leader,” Smart Dubai Office Director General Aisha Bin Bishr said.

The top winning entry was LoadMe, an online platform that uses GPS tracking and smartphone apps to provide the Middle Eastern transporters market with real-time information regarding available freight and trucks in a specific area.

The second winning entry was Efhamni (Understand Me), an app intended to bridge the gap between deaf and hearing people by teaching Emirati Sign Language.

The third winning entry was for the on-demand platform called I Want, which enables individuals to purchase retail items.

The three finalists were chosen out of 350 entries and were evaluated based on factors such as if the business idea addresses a problem in a large or growing market, supports one of the Smart Dubai dimensions, and identifies customers’ needs. The person or people behind the idea must have also demonstrated passion about what they were proposing, as well as showed that they have a thorough and credible plan to execute the idea.

All three winners received a cash prize and access to the Tejar Dubai entrepreneurship development program for one year.
