The recent United Arab Emirates (UAE)-Poland business forum saw Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry President and Chief Executive Officer H.E. Hamad Buamim calling on businesses from the two nations to come together to delve into new business opportunities as well as strengthen bilateral ties between the nations.

Representatives from more than 100 businesses attended the forum, which was presented with assistance from the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and the Polish Embassy in the UAE.

Though not geographically close, the UAE and Poland are remarkably similar nations. Poland is a main thoroughfare into central and eastern Europe, while the UAE is a gateway to markets in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa. This means both countries have the potential for enhanced trade ties.

Buamim spoke about the consistent growth of Dubai’s trade relationship with Poland.

“Dubai’s total non-oil trade with Poland has risen from $1.8 billion in 2010 to $3.6 billion in 2014 with a 100 percent increase, as last year alone saw a 35 percent increase in trade from around $2.6 billion to over $3.6 billion,” Buamim said. “Currently, there 31 Polish companies registered with Dubai Chamber and we see great potential and scope for more Polish investors to set up business in Dubai.”

H.E. Janusz Piechocinski agreed.

“It’s time for our two countries to look beyond trade exchange and join forces in mutual areas of investments and to share expertise in Polish industrial products,” he said.
