Emaar Retail invites youth to make movies at the Future Filmmakers Summer Camp

Emaar Retail is offering youth ages 8 to 18 the chance to learn the magic of making movies with it Future Filmmakers Summer Camp, Aug. 1 through 31.

Murdoch University Dubai is partnering with the entertainment and leisure subsidiary of property developers Emaar Malls Group to provide teachers and facilities. Nikon will provide film equipment for the participants as well as prizes for some categories. The program will be hosted by Reel Cinemas, a company eager to groom the next generation of talented Emirati filmmakers.

“The (United Arab Emirates) is today at the forefront in the Arab world in driving the cinema industry with several young talents creating highly acclaimed films,” Maitha Al Dossari, Emaar Retail’s CEO, said. “With the Future Filmmakers Summer Camp, we are encouraging a strong cinematic culture among our children by introducing them to the various aspects of filmmaking.”

The first three week-long modules of the summer camp will be held at Reel Cinemas in the Dubai Mall with the fourth module taught on the Murdoch University campus. The program will conclude with a gala ceremony where the films made by the participants will be screened. The young filmmakers will walk the red carpet at the event, which will be attended by VIPs and industry professionals, who will present awards in various categories.
