Embassy of Saudi Arabia recently issued the following announcement.

Saudi minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al Jubeir responded to the Human Rights Council’s report on the murder of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi.

The minister tweeted that “There is nothing new in the Rapporteur of the Human Rights Council’ report, which reiterates, in its non – binding report, what was published and circulated in the media. The report contains clear contradictions and baseless allegations, which challenges its credibility.”

“Trials in the case of the killing of Jamal Khashoggi are attended by representatives of the embassies of the five permanent members of the Security Council, in addition to Turkey, and Saudi human rights organizations.” He added.

H.E stressed that the Kingdom’s leadership “directed the necessary investigations, leading to the arrest of a number of individuals accused in the case, investigations are ongoing and trials are underway.”

H.E confirmed “that the judiciary in the Kingdom is the only relevant authority in dealing with this case. The judiciary exercises its powers in complete independence. We strongly reject any attempt to undermine the leadership of the Kingdom or to divert the case from the course of justice in the Kingdom, or influence it in any way.”

Lastly, H.E affirmed that “the Kingdom’s sovereignty and the jurisdiction of its judicial institutions on this issue is non-negotiable.”
