Emirates Energy Award concludes submission phase with diverse international participation

The Emirates Energy Award, organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has concluded its submission phase for its fifth cycle. The theme for this cycle was ‘Empowering Carbon Neutrality’, and it attracted 240 submissions from 24 countries. This reflects the award’s status as a global platform promoting energy transition and sustainability.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the Emirates Energy Award, stated: “The strong and distinguished participation in the fifth cycle of the award reaffirms its growing status as a leading global platform in sustainable energy. This aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote innovation and technology to serve humanity.”

HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, commented: “This year, we witnessed remarkable international engagement that reinforces the award’s mission as a global platform for knowledge and expertise exchange in sustainable energy.”

The submissions were spread across 10 categories. The Research and Development category received 60 entries from research centers and institutions. The Education and Capacity Building category had 29 submissions focused on training programs. Government entities submitted 25 entries in the Energy Efficiency – Public Sector category.

The Young Energy Professional category received 24 submissions. The Energy Efficiency – Private Sector category saw 17 entries from companies showcasing models for reducing energy consumption. There were also 19 entries in the Large Energy Project category compared to 13 in the Small Energy Project category.

Submissions came from various countries including strong participation from Turkey (37), Egypt (31), Jordan (27), Saudi Arabia (19), Morocco (17) among others. European countries such as France, Germany, Finland participated along with Asian countries like South Korea and Bangladesh.

Following this phase, a technical committee will evaluate entries based on criteria such as innovation, energy efficiency, economic impact among others. Winners will be announced at an official ceremony later this year.

The Emirates Energy Award aims to accelerate clean energy transition by showcasing innovative models supporting low-emission futures.
