Emirates NBD has announced its participation as an official partner of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Youth Summit. The event brings together young people aged 18 to 35 from across the globe to collaborate on conservation and sustainability issues. The summit is a precursor to the upcoming IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, aiming to encourage transformative action among youth in conservation.
As part of its involvement, Emirates NBD will serve as a Knowledge Partner at the summit and co-host a session on financing youth conservation projects. This session is designed to address key challenges such as limited access to funding for youth-led environmental initiatives. The bank plans to provide practical financial tools and models intended to support projects that focus on biodiversity and climate action.
Vijay Bains, Chief Sustainability Officer and Group Head of ESG at Emirates NBD, stated: “Emirates NBD is proud to collaborate with international partners towards the IUCN Youth Summit. This initiative aids in our efforts to champion youth-driven conservation strategies. Young people are at the heart of today’s solutions for tomorrow’s challenges. By supporting them with innovative financial tools, we help deliver sustainable growth. As a socially responsible banking group, we are fully aligned with the UAE’s sustainability goals while driving progress in international ESG priority areas.”
The partnership aligns with Emirates NBD’s long-term focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives, including conservation finance and community engagement. Through this initiative, the bank supports both national sustainability objectives and global goals set by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By encouraging youth engagement through finance and innovation, Emirates NBD aims to foster leadership among young people working toward sustainable development.
