Representatives from the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department based in Al Ain, a branch of the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, recently celebrated its employees on International Workers’ Day with a special event.

At the event, there were interpreters for both English and Urdu speakers so that all attendees could understand the explanations about the duties and rights of workers. Some participants received special certificates of appreciation and gifts; two workers earned Umrah trips for serving the department for so long, and others received gifts for converting to Islam.

“The celebration of International Workers’ Day reflects the teachings of true Islam, which sets the framework for establishing relationships with workers and for protecting their rights,” Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba’ Al Humairi, director of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Al Ain, said. “This framework serves as a source for the strategy and values of the Ministry of Interior which include positive interactions and social responsibility. It also reflects the department’s support and care for the workers and their keenness to foster social communication and cooperation in line with the interest of the government to maintain workers’ rights.”

Workers are one of the major foundations of the current success and development happening in the UAE.

“The celebration represents a gesture of gratitude to workers in recognition of their dedicated efforts,” Humairi said. “Such initiatives strengthen the relationships between the workers at the department; they foster a sense of belonging within the department and strengthen bonds; and additionally encourage them to be more productive and to further devote themselves to their work.”
