The Dubai Chamber Centre for Responsible Business’s ENGAGE Dubai program recently hosted a workshop titled ‘‘Strategic Communication and Public Relations in the Community Sector,” which builds on the success of its first workshop in June.

The workshop, headed by Maryam Al Balooshi and Saugat Chatterjee from the corporate communications department of United Arab Emirates’ mobile communications and technology provider du, drew communications and public relations specialists working for community organizations.

Presenters also included Alex Malouf,

Procter & Gamble corporate communications manager of Arabian Peninsula, and Dr. Belaid Rettab, senior director of the economic research and sustainable business development sector for the Dubai Chamber.

Malouf discussed the important role public relations plays as businesses and organizations create profiles and promote causes.

“As a credible communications tool, public relations lies at the heart of every organization and is very pertinent for community organizations – as their primary objective is to deeply connect and communicate with key stakeholders for a common cause,” Hala Badri, du’s executive vice president of brand and communications, said. “We are delighted to continue our engagement with Dubai Chamber to share our expertise and exchange thoughts with leading communications experts from community organizations.”

The ENGAGE Dubai program, launched in 2008, now boasts 94 corporate members and 35 community partners working with them on various community-based projects.
