Etihad Airways recently announced a new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
flight service from Abu Dhabi to Shanghai, China.
The new Dreamliner features state-of-the-art cabins and
business class seats. It will operate with 299 seats, 28 in business and 271 in
economy. This is 14 percent capacity increase over previous planes chartered to
Shanghai.
“Since launching flights between Shanghai and Abu Dhabi four
years ago, we have experienced first-hand the huge growth of China’s outbound
tourism market and enjoyed strong demand from both business and leisure
travellers,” Peter Baumgartner, CEO of Etihad Airways, said.
“The decision to upgrade to the Boeing 787 reflects the importance of Shanghai
and China to the airline.”
Baumgartner noted that Shanghai is a modern metropolis and a
global center of economy and finance. It is therefore a very important hub for
Etihad. Baumgartner believes the new services will help support the growing
demand for outbound tourism from Shanghai.
“The additional capacity will enable more Chinese business
and leisure travelers to enjoy seamless one-stop connections over the Abu
Dhabi hub to over 40 destinations across the Gulf region, Europe, Africa and
South America,” Baumgartner said.
