Farook appointed vice chairman, CEO of Middle East Global Advisors

Sayd Farook was recently tapped as the new vice chairman and chief executive officer of the Middle East (ME) Global Advisors.

Farook comes to ME Global Advisors from Thomson Reuters, where he oversaw the Islamic finance and markets business for more than five years as the global head of Islamic Capital Markets.

With ME Global, Farook will focus on high-frequency research and connectivity solutions, powering decision making and deal-making as well as expanding ME Global Advisor’s portfolio of business lines.

“I am delighted to welcome Dr. Sayd Farook to lead ME Global Advisors through a new era toward the future for MENASA [Middle East North Africa Southeast Asia] markets, as they transform from resource dependent economies to knowledge based economies,” Ehsan Abbas, chairman of ME Global Advisors, said.

Farook is enthusiastic about his new role.

“The countries stretching from Morocco in the East and Indonesia in the West with the Gulf Cooperation Countries at their center, offer tremendous potential as a leading driver of global growth with many of the countries [gross domestic products] expected to grow more than 40 percent to 2020,” he said.
