Female leaders at DEWA highlight empowerment initiatives on Emirati Women’s Day

Female leaders at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) marked Emirati Women’s Day 2025 by highlighting the contributions of Emirati women to the organization and the country. The statements emphasized the ongoing support from DEWA’s leadership and detailed various initiatives aimed at empowering female employees.

Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA, said: “This year’s theme, ‘Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years’, embodies an extended journey of giving, during which Emirati women have efficiently contributed to the process of growing and development. Women in the UAE are a fundamental pillar in building a cohesive society, inspired by the past and determined to confidently move towards a centenary that shines with the achievements of the daughters of Zayed. Thanks to the vision and directives of our wise leadership, Emirati women have become an example to be emulated in excellence and responsibility. As active partners in sustainable development, they play a vital role in shaping the nation’s future, contributing remarkable achievements that we can proudly showcase to the world. The top management of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is keen to provide all means of support to Zayed’s daughters, so that they can be role models in giving and leadership and have an influential imprint in the fields of work and progress.”

Maryam Al-Mutaiwei, Vice President of Human Resources at DEWA, noted: “The unlimited support of DEWA’s top management has created a friendly, flexible and positive work environment for Emirati women. This includes the adoption of supportive internal legislation and laws, and advanced policies that enable them to continue their progress and development, achieving a balance between the demands of work and social life, enhancing their overall quality of life and enabling their remarkable presence in national and international forums. Currently, 56.5% of management positions are held by female employees, which is one of the highest rates in the world. Notably, most of these positions are occupied by Emirati women. DEWA offers incentives to ensure that Emirati women continue to perform their recognised role in national, environmental and community initiatives, as well as to the fields of creativity and excellence.”

Amal Koshak, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at DEWA stated: “DEWA’s Emirati female employees have proved their excellence in leaving a clear and positive mark across all areas of the company’s work, especially in the field of climate action, and in raising awareness about the importance of everyone’s engagement in reducing the carbon footprint. Female employees create added value that supports DEWA’s contribution to achieving the vision of the ‘We the UAE 2031’ and the ‘Dubai Social Agenda 33’ frameworks. This has made them honourable and inspiring role models, exemplifying the seamless integration of male and female roles in promoting development and building a strong and cohesive society capable of keeping pace with rapid changes.
