The first commercial gas-up project has been completed at DUSUP’s
Jebel Ali LNG Import Terminal through the use of Explorer, Excelerate’s
floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).

In a 17-hour time period, the
FSRU was able to fully gas five tanks of a 173,000 m3 LNG Carrier. The ability
for DUSUP to use the FSRU will make it possible for LNG vessels to avoid
traveling long distances when they leave regional dry docks to complete this step
of the LNG cargo cycle. The gas-up operation makes Dubai a full-service LNG
hub. A second, similar gas project was finished just days later on another
carrier.

The announcement of this project speaks to the ability of
the FSRU terminals to now offer services beyond regasification. The newly
upgraded explorer can now provide gas, cool-down and loading services to LNG
carriers. In addition, small-scale LNG off-takers can now be serviced as an LNG
bunker port was added to the FSRU.

“We are pleased to support DUSUP in its ability to be a
full-service LNG provider in the region,” CEO Rob
Bryngelson said. “With the added capabilities of Explorer, Jebel Ali LNG Terminal is
more than just an import terminal. We are committed to offering safe,
efficient, and customized solutions to our customers.”

An LNG carrier offers gas-up services as one of its mandatory
requirements to ensure the cargo tanks are ready to receive LNG loads after
departing the dry dock.
