Fluke Networks, the Washington-based cable system capacity testing firm, is set to retire its DTX-1800 CableAnalyzer, which is the most widely used copper and fiber cabling certification tool; the featured technology works by measuring the speed and capacity of copper and fiber network cables, which is then used to certify those networks.

The company released the Versiv Cabling Certification System and the DSX-5000 CableAnalyzer together two years ago, and the products will now replace the DTX-1800 on the market.

The DTX-1800 has been on the market for 11 years and has certified more than a billion network links in 92 countries around the world. Despite it’s success, it is technology that is more than a decade old, and Fluke’s new products are designed to better serve today’s needs.

Customers that have invested in the DSX-5000 and Versiv, such as Dave Lawes of System Tech, have given the new products impressive reviews.

“With Versiv, we spend more time getting the project done and less time setting up and troubleshooting,” Lawes said. “We’ve seen a significant decrease in missing and incorrect test reports by loading the tester with the settings and cable IDs for multiple projects before heading to the jobsite. This all translates into faster job completion, higher profits and happier customers.”

Fluke Networks officially took the DTX-1800 off the market at the end of June but will continue to provide parts and customer support on the model for another three years.
