The World Finance and Banking Symposium will take place in Dubai for the first time Dec. 14-15 in Dubai Academic City.

Hosted jointly by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the University of Dubai, the symposium will bring together finance and banking academics from around the globe.

“We are delighted to be hosting this prestigious event as it aligns with Dubai’s strategy to become a knowledge hub for the wider MENA region, as well as a society that embraces new ideas and innovative thinking,” Dubai Chamber Second Vice-Chairman Hisham Al Shirawi said.

The Dubai Chamber will discuss new research regarding the impact innovation has on the performance of banks throughout the UAE and GCC region, while University of Dubai representatives will present papers on topics such as how government regulation affects the finance sector in the Gulf region and the growth of the SME sector in Arab region.

The symposium will include keynote speeches from Imperial College of London Finance Professor Marcin Kacperczyk and London Business School Finance Professor Vikrant Vig.

In the past, the World Finance and Banking Symposium has been held in Vietnam, Singapore and China.
