Hill International names new head of Kuwait, Bahrain operations

Hill International said James Koch will lead the global construction consulting firm’s operations in Kuwait and Bahrain as part of recent promotions in

the company’s Project Management Group.

Koch, who will become senior vice president based out of Hill’s Kuwait City offices, previously worked out of Hill’s Washington, D.C. office as senior vice president and director of its Federal Services Group.

Koch previously was Hill’s senior vice president who led the Stanley Baker Hill Joint Venture’s assignment managing the Iraq Reconstruction Program on behalf of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Before joining Hill, Koch retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel, where he managed construction and renovation of military, transportation, residential, medical, environmental, educational and other international facilities. 

Koch is a registered Professional Engineer in the District of Columbia, a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional, a fellow of the Society of American Military Engineers and a fellow of the Royal Institution of Charted Surveyors. He earned his bachelor’s degree in commerce from Washington & Lee University, a master’s degree in civil engineering, his engineer’s degree in construction engineering from Stanford University, and a doctorate in engineering management from the University of Missouri at Rolla.

Hill also named

Edward Newman III as its new senior vice president and Washington, D.C. regional manager. 

Newman previously was vice president in charge of business development for the region. Prior to joining the Hill team, he was vice president and Mid-Atlantic area manager for Heery International during his three decades of experience in project and construction management.

“We congratulate Jim and Ed on their new positions and we look forward to their contributions in helping to continue the growth of their respective operations,” Hill Chief Operating Officer Raouf Ghali said.
