ICC-UAE Commission on Arbitration has a new chairman

The International Chamber of Commerce UAE Chapter’s (ICC-UAE) Commission on Arbitration and representatives from many of the United Arab Emirates’ leading law firms recently met at the Capital Club at the Dubai International Financial Centre, a release posted on the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry website said.

The meeting focused on approving the ICC’s program of action for 2017 and the election of Ali Al Aidarous, managing attorney of Al Aidarous International Legal Practice, as chairman of the commission, the release said.

Also elected at the meeting were vice chairs Alec Emmerson, consultant at Clyde & Co.; Gordon Blanke, partner with DWF (Middle East) LLP; Hassan Arab, partner and co-Head of litigation at Al Tamimi & Co.; and  Mahmood Hussain Ali Ahmad, founding partner at Mahmood Hussain Law Firm.

Zaynab Penot,  a lawyer from International Consultant Law Office was elected to a two-year term as coordinator of the commission.

ICC-UAE Secretary General Hassan Al Hashemi, delivered the opening speech at the event, noting the organization’s focus on representing local business interests on a global scale.
