Michael Hershman has been named group CEO of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS).

Hershman will be responsible for reviewing and enhancing the nonprofit organization to ensure that its services and offerings maximize safeguarding efforts related to sports.

“As group CEO, I look forward to strengthening the ICSS’s existing offer and expertise, as well as helping organisations around the world to restore trust and confidence back to sport,” Hershman said. “We need to bring the values of sport back.”

Hershman previously served as president and CEO of risk management firm Fairfax Group, advising clients on matters of security, governance and transparency. He co-founded Transparency International, an organization dedicated to creating a corruption-free world, and has held numerous other roles — including being a FIFA Independent Governance Committee member. Hershman has also offered security assistance for high-profile sports events such as the Olympics and Super Bowl.

“Michael is a highly respected figure who has operated at the very highest levels in both the security and integrity fields, and I am honored and delighted to have him join as group CEO at an important period of growth for our organization,” ICSS Founder and President Mohammed Hanzab said. “With a wealth of experience in leading international public and private organizations, and having worked extensively in both the public and private sector, Michael is ideally placed as group CEO to lead the implementation of the ICSS’ new overall structure.”
